12.7 Crashing during launch

I'm running Yosemite on a MacBook Pro and have had Protools running for three years without a hiccup on this machine.

I have an annual subscription and noticed 12.7 yesterday. I was running 12.6 without any problems. My 12.7 is crashing during launch.

I uninstalled and re installed, however same problem. It crashes about 1/2 way through launch.

The Application mrg does not give earlier versions to reinstall. I've searched the Avid site to download the 12.6 but just can't find it. Filled out the Customer support but no response.
Any suggestions?

You should be able to find an installer for 12.6.1 in your Avid Account.

Have you tried moving all your plugins to the "Unused Plugins" folder and then launching? It's possible that a plugin is crashing PT during launch.

Also, when PT launches and the Logo window appears, does it always crash at a particular process (the ticker description near the bottom of the window)?

Yes, it does crash at the same spot. I'll try moving the plugins.

During Launch, and crash if you open a new plug in (by avid btw) and and and...

I'm so tired of all these, really.

I'm back to 12.6.1

I'm so regretted of paying for this year's subscription, I feel robbed.

Really, I don't mind paying big money for something that works great, but this is too much.

I moved the to the unused folder. Works fine now.

Hi Guys,

Thought I'd share my findings, as I too suffered from this... after fours days of trouble shooting, new hard drive, new iLok, clean OS install I THOUGHT I'd solved the problem, a specific plugin (Drumagog Platinum in my case) causing the crash... However, a few weeks later, the same issue started again! Different plugins causing the crash. I removed all 3rd party plugins, started putting them back one by one, trashing prefs, etc... This time Waves was crashing it... But when I removed everything but Waves, and trashed preferences, they loaded just fine.

ANYWAY, I decided to switch on my wifi, and let the computer be connected to the internet during Pro Tools start up... Guess what... it loaded perfectly.

*** Solution ***

It seems some plugins and/or PT now periodically check online for either licenses or updates perhaps? Anyway, instead of a nice user experience message "Please connect to the internet", we simply get a total crash if not connected.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, try connecting to the internet before launching Pro Tools.

Interesting as Drumagog(latest version) has not worked for me since 11.3 or so. Every time I would try to insert Drumagog, it would throw a -7054 error and the plugin would show as inactive. Finally gave up and went with Slate Trigger(which I like much better after learning to use it)

I get this when my plugin subscription try to update when i'm working on location with patchy internet.

On one occasion I had to tether the laptop my iphone to use the 4g signal.

I try whenever I remember to periodically open ilok manager and let it do what it needs to do so that I don't come up against this.

Generally though I find Pro Tools crashing much more frequently since 12.4 onwards.
