Default Routing system audio in as a channel input?

Bit of a weird one - Is there a way to set the input of an audio channel in Pro Tools to record the system audio of my computer?

I'm outta ideas and would love to hear yours.

Thanks!

Take the output of your computer, preferably digital, and connect it to inputs on your interface.

There are software solutions as well, but good old hardware works reliably.

You will get better help if you describe your setup and what you are trying to do.... record what computer audio for what purpose etc.

Thanks for the response! I'm running without an interface at the moment so am looking for a software solution.

Basically I have a third-party synth app that isn't compatible with Pro Tools. My idea for a solution would be to simply record the system audio live in Pro Tools while I'm playing on the app.

I've attached my basic setup!

Not compatible with PT? Do you have an au or vst version of the plugin? If so grab BlueCat Patchwork or MB7 to host the plugin. Use Patchwork as a track insert and put the synth plugin inside Patchwork. What synth are you talking about and are you sure there's no aax64 version? And is the synth 64 bit?

There are easier ways to accomplish what you want without a Rube Goldberg kludge.

You're talking about the free version right?

There is also loopback and other apps, but as pointed out already I would start with trying to run the synth inside Pro Tools.

Another option is to use SoundFlower as part of an Aggregate device. Works a treat.
