Is it better to power down the d-control at night or leave it on all the time? I have no problems with the unit but do not want a problem in the future if I can help it.
Thanks, |

I've always found that studios that remain constantly on, end up needing more maintenance than those that are powered down.

Every time I've heard about someone blowing the LED power supply on an ICON for example, it was during power up.

Yeah, one of our techs used to say powerup was often the real gear killer, but the next one said the opposite.
My current studio is powered down at night and I have had Zero gear failures since the install 10 years ago. Previous 2 studios I worked at were full time powered up, and they slowly cooked themselves away. (They were analog console based though)

Really shaking my head here....
electricity must be shockingly cheap at your places. Powering down my 24 d-command as soon as I can + for most of my jobs, when I need only the main unit - the fader unit is powered down too. We have an electronic item here, which is designed to be turned on AND off - every day. It´s not an ssl 4k. LEDs can be replaced - our planet probably not ![]() Cheers from my green studio |
