Okay I now have headphone volume and can here when i input and output through the headphone jack. I never had to unplug the speakers but I still cannot hear anything from the "monitors". I am making progress so this is good because at least i can record and playback through headphones. I don't have time to test the speakers on something else at the moment but I will after I get back this evening and see if maybe there is an issue with them. I've never had a problem with them before I had them working at one time but I dont know what I did or if I accidently changed something since i first hooked it up.

Your signature says you have cheap computer speakers for monitors. Many cheap computer speakers are not powered. If they are not powered, they will not work as monitors with the MBox. The speakers need their own power supply and internal amplifier.
