I don’t have a problem with farming out. However, a big problem is the lack of communication between the teams working on Pro Tools and the Avid Link app.
Most of the components that are displayed in the Avid Link app are also available directly inside Pro Tools under the Avid Link menu. But they didn’t even care about organizing them in the same/similar hierarchy. It is a complete mess, just gobbled together with no respect to the actual user who have to figure out what is what (look at the screenshot).
My suspicion is that a memo came from the beancounter department at AVID with an order to make something to shove a shopping cart in the user’s face whenever possible. “Users should spend their time browsing through items they could (should) buy instead of using Pro Tools to get their work done”.
