... almost certainly it was farmed out to GlobalLogic the outsoucing company Avid has been using for years as it has reduced its engineering headcount. Link has all the bloatware attributes of modern badly written software. Huge size, layers of dependency crap, out of date modules, potential security risks, etc. And like many outsourcing companies, I would not be surprised if GlobalLogic did not propose the need for this, and helped Avid folks think they are in control and be owning collecting/reporting on the project “success”/adoption to Avid execs. This crapware/bloatware just gets uninstalled immediately after a Pro Tools install on my systems. I just wonder how much overall Avid has spent on this, with a potential highest cost of opportunity cost... what if they had spend similar on fixing/adding core DAW features or retaining core DAW developers? ...
