It's not because they are sweetening the deal to make people jump into the subscriptions, it's how they doubled the price of the deals that people with perpetuals like me had been paying for years for the support subscription. They simply decided to increase the price of a deal that was already closed without giving us the opportunity to opt out whatever they decided to add or simply without adding anything at all. Not even telephone companies do this.
