Default Proper Recording Levels

You set up your signal generator in PT on a mono track. Get it all set up. Don't forget to mute channel and set your master and channel fader to unity). Pink noise at RMS at -20. Pan your channel left in PT(calibrate one speaker at a time). Now get a SPL meter(radio shack, App Store) and hold it at ear level where you would be mixing. Better to have a stable surface. Set the SPL to RMS, Slow, C. Set your SPL to 83(what they say us Mastering level, theater level). Un mute signal generator in PT. Turn up your left speaker until the needle says 83 or 0(depends on meter I think). Repeat process for right speaker. When done, take sharpie and mark spot.
Repeat whole process but tell signal generator to do a -14 pink noise(k20 and k14).
This is how I have done it in the last few days. I'm not an expert by any means. But it works.
Then when done you can always go to your marks when your ready to mix or master.
Never turn down your mix😊
Someone please chime in to see if I have been paying attention😳
