Omnisphere still hits the CPU harder than it does in other DAW's at 64 Samples, but it is what it is. Heavy instrument plugins continue to stack up on one CPU lane/core and aren't as evenly distributed as others.
However, I've moved to a freeze/commit workflow with VI's in PT, so it's all good, and overall things feel a bit snappier.

VE Pro is a lifesaver. I run the VST version of Omnisphere and other heavy VI's on VEP. That definitely removes a lot of the load off PT, so you can run more tracks and plugins.
