Don, I have the same problem. It seems that for what ever reason, after you have closed protools it drops the connection to your sound card, which coincidently mine is a delta 66. I get around this by opening up an audio file from within Adobe audition and playing it. It seems that this re-establishs the connection to the sound card. I don't know what the relevance is to Adobe audition or wether it will work by using some other audio application, but this is how I get around not having to restart my machine.. Hope this helps you out!!
