Same problem! I updated from PT First 12.8.2 to First 2018.1.0 and now I get the same error.

My system:
HP Pavilion 17-ab001nq
Windows 10 64bit
Intel i7 6700HQ 2.60GHz/2.60GHz
8GB RAM
Focusrite 2i2 (2nd Gen) as default playback and recording audio interface
