I actually cringe at those metal guitars now. Back when we were doing them, the players really hadn't ever spent any time in front of real tube amps that push and pull with your playing (they all had line 6 amps). You know, the subtle attack and how you choose to make those strings vibrate. Well, they definitely played them hard enough to send notes in and out of tune, and so a lot of the tone didn't come out as good as i had wanted. But it really was a case of "the magic is in the hands" so to speak, or lack there of...
Finesse is everything, and i'm realizing more and more as i use the 11R live, that good intonation and good technique really allows these crazy harmonics to shine. A just slightly out of tune guitar through the AC30 is lackluster, but an in tune guitar through an AC30 11R simulation is stunning!
