What is weird about it? Standard 8x8x8 configuration has one analog input, one analog output, and one digital i/o card. Fourth slot is available if you want to add second digital i/o card for maximum of 16 ADAT SMUX I/O per box (limitation of DigiLink cable, you need to choose which 16 i/o you wish to use. two boxes can be daisy-chained for up to 32 i/o per card).
