Does not carry the original and the backup together when traveling.
Does not use drives that are questionable; if something bad has happened to a drive to make you suspect it, you should REPLACE that drive.

Actually the mantra is the data isn't considered safe unless it's backed up in three separate places with one of which preferably kept offsite. Unfortunately my bank doesn't have any safe deposit boxes left that are large enough to put a couple of hard drives in.
