Re: compressed snare without washy cymbal bleed?
Duplicate the snare track, EQ out the cymbal bleed on the dupe track. Then, compress the heck out of it and blend it back in with the original.
Never tried it, but it could work.
In the future, build a sheild around the snare mic with auralex or cardboard or something.
