The mini-USB jack on the back of the unit can become dodgy. You might need to either make sure the plug is staying at an angle such that it maintains the connection consistently, or if you're feeling confident, you could try inspecting inside the unit and seeing if you can use a pair of needle-nose pliers to tighten the metal connection piece to make a more secure connection.
