Default Re: (Heresy) Pro Tools Hardware Downgrade

I ran an HD5 setup for more than 10 years. I downgraded to non HD about 2 years ago and am fine with the decision. I am busier than ever, and I track hundreds of sessions a year. And mix even more than that. I DID recently upgrade the core of my Mac for about 500. That helped with some monster 100+ track 30 instance of Autotune and amp sim style tracks. All that at 64 buffer. No one has ever complained about latency.

I much prefer not worrying about voices, or the lack of DSP plugins, or worrying that even if I had HDX, the use of some of my favorite plugins (which are native), would essentially turn my system into a Native one anyways.

HDX would be fine I suppose. But right now I have not regretted a single minute the choice to go Native. I'm still making a living and don't compromise a thing in the process.
