Default Xmon not seen as ON by D-Control / D-Command

Hi,

We recently upgraded two of our Pro Tools HD 3 Accel systems with new Intel Macs, now running Mac OS 10.6.6 and PT HD 9.0.2, internal PCIe cards. Sorry, not near machines at the moment, so can't access processor info, 8GB RAM. Two 192s each, SYNC I/O, Mic Pre with Xmon, one hooked up to D-Control, the other to D-Command.

Both worked fine for a while, but after a week or so the system connected to D-Control started acting up in that the desk noted the Xmon as being Off, despite this not being the case. The Mute button on the desk would still trigger the Xmon Mute though, and although no audio was coming out the Main Out on the desk, toggling to Alt or Mini and then back would return audio to Main, with Xmon still indicated as Off by desk.

It looked like the Xmon's firmware might have been corrupted as no info was shown, but trying to force a firmware download didn't work either. We took the Xmon to another suite and the firmware update worked fine, but the problem about desk not sensing Xmon as on persisted once Xmon was returned to its original system. We then figured the issue is either with the cable between desk and Xmon or the desk itself and Avid support has indicated it most likely is a broken comm board in the desk. Both board and cable are to be replaced this week.

However today we switched on the other recently upgraded system which has been working fine since upgrade and the exact same problem popped up, D-Command this time not seeing the Xmon. Restarted all hardware, still with no luck, and then finally got Xmon to be seen by desk by powering it down and up again while Pro Tools was running.

It might've just been an unfortunate coincidence, but I am now worried that it might have something to do with the new installation and software rather than hardware failure, and was wondering whether anyone has experienced any similar problems.

Thanks
