As others said, this is optional. In my main machine sure, depending on price their dedicated card that gives you the lowest latency is going to be ideal.

But what's cool is that it's not required, so if you have a remote gig you can take the interface and your laptop and not need to bring some clumsy cardbus to PCIe to digilink contraption. This also means you can use any model of mac with this, not just macbook pros that have the expresscard slot.

It will be interesting to see price, and what the latency difference is between built in ethernet and their dedicated card. I know with audio over ethernet software like audioport universal or VE pro the latency is not an issue for most people.
