Default Tip: VCA spill single master mode without dock (hidden feature?)

I don't think this has been documented in the S3 or Eucon manuals, and found this out by accident.

In VCA spill mode on the S3 (without a dock) you can enter Single Master Mode (having the VCA on the rightmost fader and spilling the children on the 15 remaining faders which is nice in sessions with over 12 children per VCA e.g.)

How to do this?

- Enter VCA spill mode (bank+bank)
- spill a VCA (double-tap SEL)
- now press both nudge buttons simultaneously -> this unbanks the children but keeps the VCA's
-| press both nudge buttons simultaneously again -> BINGO!

now the funny part:

this Single Master Mode does recall VCA spill, i.e. you can go back to Multi Master Mode or exit VCA spill mode completely and it will recall the correct spill layout when you re-enter Single Master Mode (by simply pressing both nudge buttons).

As reported many months ago however, Multi Master Mode (the default and only documented mode) still does not recall VCA spill layouts.

So the good news: just found a nice - maybe hidden and unintended - feature

The bad news: once again it seems Avid is completely lost in its own iffy architecture

Every now and then Avid bugs are so brilliant one should honour them as true features
