I have the Motu Midi Express XT which is also a USB midi interface/Patch bay. I've been using it with Pro Tools for a while and never experienced such issue.
I'm thinking maybe there's a problem with the USB port? To isolate the problem, can you test it out with another DAW such as Reaper?
