At least get the 12 core to get the full memory clock.
The 8 core is a bad choice overall. Especially if you want to use the machine for years to come. And in that light the addl amount of cash shouldn't hurt anyways.

I mean, you can upgrade the CPU down the road yourself when prices come down. But if you don't want to fiddle with it, don't get the 8-core.
