The external ins can be used for returning 3 2-track machines. I use mine for Dat, CD and Cassette.
I have a cdr connected to the digital outs of my first interface.
I'm not really sure why these questions came bundled in the same post, as the Control 24 has no output path per se.
If you need to connect to the analog ins of your cdr than you need to take the outputs from your 888 and patch them.
