Most definitely.

PTMP Essential has some extreme limitations:
  • only 16 tracks, mono or stereo
  • only 8 virtual instrument tracks
  • only 8 MIDI tracks
  • limited plugins included
  • only includes Sans-Amp for guitar processing/modelling
  • no separate MIDI editor
  • no score editor
  • Limited automation capabilities
  • can not be expanded until you upgrade to the full version M-Powered

PTMP Essential is a good way to get your feet wet using Pro Tools, and it's great that it comes bundled, but it will probably leave you wanting more.
