Then, if you are recording to your system drive, that's a major issue. Most laptop drives are 5400 rpm and PT requires sessions to go a separate and approved hard drive(if you have a good SSD, then you might get away with running small sessions off the system drive, but its NOT recommended or supported). Then there's Windows 8, which comes with its own unknowns. Followed by system tweaks(did you perform them?). Then, the USB3 drivers are not 100% good(or are they?). Windows 7 PT rigs are recommended to use a 7200 rpm or SSD drive, with a USB2 connection
