Try Trashing your prefererences again (without PT running) and then a cold start reboot. I had a similar problem a few weeks ago that drove me crazy. ( and I was so pressed for time that I dove back into my OS9 partition to keep the session going) I went through all the procedures you did but nothing worked except the preference trashing.
