Using 127.0.0.1 virtual loopback so the internal mail server is used should work, but it doesn't for me either. When I asked this question in a previous thread it seems that it either doesn't work because of internal IT policies etc or due to your ISP blocking port 25 outbound. Neither of those are the case with me however, but still it doesn't work.

The easy solution is to substitute the address of your ISP's mail server instead of 127.0.0.1. For example in my case I substituted mailhost.zen.co.uk and all worked fine then.
