I haven't checked the specs, but I highly doubt PT 7 is a good idea with Mountain Lion.
You need to update to 10 at least, or you are in for a world of hurt.
Try reformatting a hard drive with the current version of Disk Utility. Then see if you can toggle to rec drive.
