I'm very doubtful that upping the RAM to 4gb will help solve the problem... Before i went to PT8 and Snow Leopard i only had 2gb and i never had this problem, and Buffer overload errors were a rare sight.
I went up to 3gb actually in the hopes of solving this problem... (3gb is maximum on my Macbook Pro)
You can set the processors from 2 to 1 in the Playback Engine settings, if i remember correctly. I will also try this.
