Splitting a spinning system drive into 2 partitions is the best way to get the absolute WORST performance out of it(and its probably a 5400 rpm drive). If it were my setup, I would replace the drive with a good SSD and leave it as a single partition. If you want better performance than that, add a good(and fast) separate recording drive. The only other thing you can do to help what you have is to push the buffer to 1024 to lighten the load(assuming you do not need players to hear from the session, while recording)
