You did learn something here and that is that people have different ways of working/seeing things and what works for some doesn't necessarily work for all.
As to the reasons for post fader metering and pan readout I've already made my reason(s) known on that.
The line of 'that's the way it's been done before and must be done like that in the future' reminds me of the line those of us of a certain age remember hearing from our parents. And that goes: 'just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you have to do it'.
