Was mixing a TV show in 5.1 last week on my 6-core nMP. CPU usage never went over 19%. :)
BUT, I wasn't running any real-time noise reduction, and only a few small VIs. Mostly eq, compression, reverbs, and the mix engine pushing 200 voices. Very happy with the 6-core, but I never made any serious comparisons with the 4-core.
I really want to pay Avid for the option to run my system natively at 512 voices, with quickpunch, I occasionally bump into the voice limit. I know my hardware can handle 512 voices.
