Yes, new cards are always better value for money, but...
I can share the concern of many, that the blue interfaces would not work with the 64 bit PT11 that may be here within a year or so. It would not be good for any of us, and surely it would be very bad press for AVID. Hopefully they continue working just like MIX interfaces continued to work as legacy gear until PT8 (last supported MIX core card system was PT6.4)
If AVID does something that makes blue incompatible with PT11, many people will be very mad. At least we knew since PT9 that new interfaces are here. It's just that there's nothing wrong with the old ones and if we're forced to fix what ain't broken... not good.
But at least there is always hope -- if 3rd parties can do it, so could AVID
