Default Re: Are we due an update anytime soon?

Unless you have a known problem, I would not worry about updates. I also would NEVER jump on any update without doing 2 things:
#1-let others blaze the trail and watch the DUC to see how it works(IOW, don't be in a hurry)
#2-have a backup plan. Actually, that should be in bold and all caps...seriously. How many folks come here crying because they jumped on some update or installed a big bunch of new software, and now their system is hosed.

DRIVE IMAGING is one good plan(go to Costco and grab the 6TB USB3 drive they have on sale for $109 and use it for 2 things; drive images and copies of your sessions(I would partition it to keep the sessions separated, but that's just me).

2nd option(which I also use) is to have a spare system drive. With some computers, swapping a drive is tough, but my tower has a 3-slot SATA drive cage so I can pull and swap system drive and recording drives easily. When things are working well, I clone my system drive to another drive. When I want to try an update or some new software, I swap the cloned drive in and work on that one. If things go sour, swap the old drive back in(and fix the issues at my leisure, or just clone over it again).
