Not a user of that hardware, but I have 2 concerns:
#1-why is it using HUI protocol? When I had my 002 or 003 surface, it required no special setup and did not use HUI. Maybe you should delete any HUI devices under the Peripherals menu and see what happens?
#2-with other firewire interfaces(002 and 003, anyway) hot-patching(connecting or disconnecting firewire with things powered on), that could(and often would) fry the FW circuit in the interface(hoping that's not your problem
). If you have playback and audio from the PM, you are probably good on this.
