Default Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

I was one of the first builds on the first page and thought I would update my specs for anyone with older hardware. Original hardware from November 2013:

4th Generation Intel i7 4770K
ASUS Z87 PRO Socket 1150
Silverstone Fortress FT02B-USB3.0
G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) CL: 7 Model F3-1600C7D-16GTX
Corsair RM Series RM850 ATX12 v2.31
Noctua NH NH-D14
Asus GT640-DCSL-2GD3 GT 640 2 GB GDDR3 SDRAM - PCI-Express 3.0 x16 Fanless
SIIG FireWire 2-Port PCIe (NN-E20012-S2)
2 Port USB 2.0 Card
Western Digital Caviar Black 64 mb cache drives
Windows 8 Pro/8.1 and then 10

In 2017 I replaced the WD hard drives with Samsung EVO 860 SSDs.

In 2020 I replaced the EVO 860s with Samsung EVO 970 Plus NVMe M.2 drives in Vantec ARGB PCIe Adapters With Heat Sinks (no, I didn't hook up the lights)
Changed the RAM to 32 gb of Corsair - the most the MB will hold
Added a Corsair Commander Pro Computer Fan Controller - my drives are in the 38 Celsius range, even under load.
And had the case blown out - first time in 6 years and there was very little dust as my screens' mesh is micro size and I clean them monthly.
The Arctic paste is still good.

The computer is still going strong. The only thing I can update now is the video card and there is no point in doing that.

For those looking to build a top end computer, I specced out a build for a friend of mine. He had it built in March and, while it is expensive, he loves it:

Fractal Design Define 7 Case NO WINDOW
ASUS Prime Deluxe II X299 Motherboard Dual Ethernet Ports, TB 3
Intel Core i9 10980XE 18 Cores/36 Threads
EVGA 1000W Power Supply
G.Skill Ripjaws V Series RAM (64 GB as 2x32 GB)
1 Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 500 GB SSD (OS)
2 Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 1 TB SSD (Sessions and Samples)
1 Vantec M.2 NVMe PCIe x4 Adapter with ARGB Heat Sink
ASUS Dual GeForce GTX 1650 Video Card
Noctua NH-U14s Intel CPU Cooler
LG Bluray/DVD Burner/Player
StarTech.com Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter
Windows 10 Pro

Hope this information helps.
