V-Control Pro is working fine with PT11 here on Windows 7, except for the Surround Panners. PT11 sees VCPro just fine, but there is a bug that causes PT11 to crash immediately whenever the Shift key is pressed if the Surround Panners are enabled. See the following thread:

The OP's problem sounds more like a connection problem, though. I only get that error message when Ney-Fi is not running or not properly configured, or when VCPro is not in focus on my iPad, not assigned to the right computer, or not showing the PT version. I suggest going through the Ney-Fi connection and configuration steps, but don't assign the surround panners (the track panning will still work).
