Thanks guys... I need to do some more homework on the Win/Mac compatibility issue - budgetary concerns make a big bang upgrade a bit tricky!

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...335?popup=true which confirms the >= 7200rpm recommendation, and also indicates that SSDs are now supported (which wasn't the case recently AFAIK).
