Default Re: Abnormally large save...steps to clean it up?

File / Save Session Copy

check the box for Copy Audio Files

creates a complete copy of the whole session.

Could the magnitude be due to multiple takes that are no longer part of the session? Open the Region List by clicking on the << at bottom right of Edit window (if not already open). Is the list huge? Pressing Shift-Ctrl-U will highlight the regions that are unused in this session. Shift-Ctrl-B gives you the option of Removing the selected regions from the session or Deleting them from the drive.

BE VERY CAREFUL these unused files may belong to another session.

I have a friend who always used the same session as a template. He would open the session, select all regions in the Edit window, Delete them, and then Save Session As in a new location. Problem being that all those regions he deleted are still part of the session (they are still in the region list) and worst of all, any new material he recorded was saved in the original (template) folder.
Ohhhhh!!! Mr Hart, what a mess!!! It took me ages to sort it out.

You may have inadvertantly been doing a similar thing and your 7GB folder may contain the audio files of everything you've done so far!!

HTH,
Cheers,
Marty.
