Don't know if this is any help to you but I'm running ST4 Max with PT 2020.5 and Windows 10 Pro and it is working fine. I was previously using ST Max with PT 2019 for several months daily which was also problem free. Perhaps you are reluctant to shell out the money to update to the current version of PT but it might be worth it if you can't find another way to rectify the problem.
