I'm a little confused - are you connecting the second synth to the first via USB? What connection are you using to go from that keyboard to your computer? Not sure if you can use the Motif's USB connections to daisy chain synths like you can regular round 5 pin MIDI connections?
Are you trying to plug things together while everything is powered on? That's not a good thing.
