I have not used the Control 24 but w/my experiences w/ other Digi controllers my first guess is that you did not get the correct connections for 5.1 monitoring, multi-channel order is: L, Ls, C, Rs, R, Lfe (personally I cross-wire so I can use SMPTE/ITU: L, R, C, Lfe, Ls, Rs)
