Interesting write-up, thanks for being so meticulous.

You obviously are persistent. I am curious what brought you to Protools. I have installed various versions on both PCs and Macs. But after wasting a disproportionate amount of time playing the driver update game and coaxing blue-screens into submission, I bought a few more Macs, which eliminate tons of headaches.

I have a few RME cards, some Avid cards, and recently got into the thunderbolt niche and acquired an Apogee Element 46 and Focusrite Clarett 8 Pre-X, both of which appear to have good sound, performance, and stability for not too exorbitant a price. Further, I think you can resell them without having to get a variance and special use permit.

I hope you can produce some good audio now that you have completed such an arduous indoctrination.

I have often wondered if the "Blue Man Group" used in Intel Pentium commercials got that way from staring at the ubiquitous blue-screens...
