Default Re: Time Stretching/Pitch Shifting/Auto-tuning, etc.

The Melodyne plug-in works similar to the stand alone, but uses a memory buffer within ProTools to do it's magic. So you have to load an audio segment into the buffer, process it and then record it back onto a track. This works very well but it's not the best tool for all TCE jobs. I own pretty much all of the tools, but if I had to start somewhere it would be Waves Tune for vocal tuning and Digidesign X-Form for TCE. The Melodyne plug-in is a decent alternative to Waves Tune and it includes some great tools for grooving vocals, but it wouldn't work as well as X-Form for stretching stereo tracks. I much prefer the sound of X-Form to Pitch n Time, but it works much slower.
