do you have waves plugins? If so, the renaissance de esser is great. The most important things are to find the correct frequency of the "ess" and then be sure not to over reduce the frequency when you find it. If you do over reduce, it will sound unnatural. Male and female are usually at a different range. Play around with it. It is easy and you can hear instantly if you are using it right. Make sure you listen to it in the mix too. It is a great and efficient tool. Similar to a Multi band compressor which only tweaks (reduces) a targeted frequency bandwidth. check it out!
