Default Mixing / mastering on large monitors

I have a pair of JBL 4350's as monitors for mixing/mastering. Although they sound incredible, they are very large (dual 15" bass drivers, etc...).
I know that most of you mix on small size quality monitors, to make sure the final mix sounds good on conventional stereo systems and car stereos.

So is there a way to use my large monitors in a way that will sound good, as though I had mixed on smaller quality monitors? I tried once using Waves MaxBass, but admittedly, I don't understand how it's supposed to work.
Is an obvious answer to cut everything under say 50Hz, and above 16k, and make sure the mix sounds good by boosting the second harmonic of the bass and kick to be in the restricted frequency range?
Other suggestions?
