Default Re: Magma PEHIFX1 PCIe Host card for PCI expansion chassis

I have not personally used this in my studio, but it came from an HD studio using a p13r and a quad g5, they upgraded to a macpro/pe6r4i setup. I bought their p13r, and this came with it. I ended up splitting this card up from the p13r, the p13r was one of the older dec chip versions that only work with ppc macs... The reason they had to upgrade.

This buyer was trying to use this with the 6-slot digidesign "expansion|HD" chassis that uses the ethernet cable(yeah, the one thats not made by magma ). Apparently a "mac tech" sold him a magma expansion interface card and put it in one of the slots, and connected it to this card.... Then told him that this card was bad because it wasn't communicating with the chassis. Magma told me that it was extremely unlikely that this would work, since the digi chassis used a completely different bridging method than the magma's do... I have never, ever heard of anyone even trying this, so that's why I'm not sure if this could have damaged the card or not.

Not sure if this would work with your 64 bit chassis. I know there are a few people using this card with the smaller magma 4slot, 3slot, etc. chassis with mac pros and hd systems(so long as they have the pericom chipset), but those are all 32 bit chassis afaik. Probably best to email magma and find out, but I have a feeling that if it were going to work, you'd have to put a 32 bit expansion interface card in the chassis, if thats even possible.
