I'm open to suggestions and I don't have any personal preferences at the moment.

I just upgraded from using a digital recorder which I was using for years I've been long overdue to using PT.

The set up I'm working with is a MPC1000, Motif Workstation, and the M-Audio Profire 2626 interface.

What is the most common MIDI set-up? (MPC to Motif to Interface)

I plan on using PT as the master and what would be the next step making sure the settings in PT are set good.

I'm having a hard time getting sound recorded on PT.
