OT:

I'll add to what Lee said about surgery and recuperation. I had to go through surgery to really get rid of the pain in my right wrist. I worked, played and practiced a lot on both guitar and piano and hardly took any notice to the growing pain in my wrist.
That is, until it got so bad I couldn't even lift a cup of coffee. They found three, large liquid-filled bags of crap* in my wrist. They took those out, I had a recuperation period of about 6 weeks where I gradually increased the workload on my right hand. I have never had problems since.
I only mention this because sometimes surgery is the only way to go.

* Not the appropriate medical term, but I'm merely an average norwegian.
