The ONLY current advantage to external drives is convenience and portability b/w setups. Internal SATA is currently providing the best results on ALL pro tools systems...equalling or beating scsi in most cases. Firewire bandwidth doesn't even come close to SATA...SATA is showing hundreds of simultaneous tracks off single drives in the post for film forum.
